The Road to Hell

You know what its paved with. But no one really cares what your intentions are especially your kids. All that really matters is what youre DOING. James 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, or youre deceiving yourselves.

We know our kids should consistently hear our voice reading Gods Word. We know family prayer should be a priority. We know we need to spend one-on-one time with each of our kids. We know daddies should date their daughters and that sons need a strong male role model. We know kids spell love T.I.M.E. We know, we know, we know. It makes me sick to think of all we know and how little we do. We abide in our own mediocrity. Think about that word. Mediocrity. As close to the bottom as it is to the top! This is our kids were talking about!

One of my favorite sayings is, Everyones knowledge level supersedes their obedience level. We all know the right things to do, and most of us genuinely want to do the right thing. Its just that, in a world as fast as ours, its not a simple thing to live out our priorities in a dutiful way. In some areas that may be OK, like grabbing fast food when you know a nutritious meal would be best or skipping out on soccer practice because you really, really want to sleep in. But it is NOT OK with the children God has entrusted to you and me.

So heres your assignment: Write out a list today of what you think the ideal Biblical parent should be doing. Then start doing it.

Not tomorrow, or next week, but today. And because accountability is a big deal, I challenge you to share your list. That way, we can all help and learn from each other.

Either that, or admit to yourself that you have different priorities.
