Where can I hear the SLU Scholar in Residence at YPS?

SLU’s Scholar in Residence, Dr. Bill Brown, will speak during the mainstage from YPS as well as answer questions you have submitted (both through registration as well as texted in during the event) in an exclusive breakout session crafted uniquely for YPS attendees in attendance.

Vision for Scholar in Residence Program: It is SLU’s desire to give you, our audience of student ministry practitioners and educators, space to wrestle with worldview type questions that relate to the fast-changing landscape of your student ministries and communities.  The vision for this space is that the discussions are crafted and cultivated under the wisdom and guidance of a thought leader. We can think of no better voice to launch this initiative and shepherd these discussions in their inaugural year than Dr. Bill Brown.

What is the New 2 Ministry Pre-Conference Gathering at YPS?

New 2 Ministry Pre-Conference For Youth Pastor Summit

Get what you need before the conference even starts! A 3-hour lunch and learn for those who are New2Ministry (2ish years or so). A roundtable session that is wildly practical, conversational, pro-active, and specifically tuned to set up you, a new-ish youth ministry leader with an action plan for how to better build a healthy ministry. Our friends at Lifeway Students want to connect and equip you with the strategy and stuff you need to lead well now.

You can sign up for this as part of your regular YPS registration.   Space is limited to 50 people.

Can my organization be an Exhibitor at YPS?

Yes! We have several opportunities for you to partner with us.   Click here to learn more and click here to apply.  All applications must be received by February 21, 2024.  Applications are considered on a rolling basis.

Are there any health guidelines of which program attendees should be aware in light of current events?

As we approach this event, our collective desire is to host  you in the more traditional format that was familiar to all of us pre-Covid without masks or social-distancing requirements. Yet, we acknowledge that local, state, and national regulations may necessitate a format change or transition. In the event of this, the SLU Team will stay in communication with you if any updates need to be made.  In the meantime, here are some safe community guidelines to take note of.

  • Be a Good Neighbor: Attendees should stay home if feeling unwell or have been exposed to someone with COVID in the past 5 days.
  • So you can arrive feeling prepared, here is what happens should an attendee get sick while on site:
    • Separate the person from others.
    • Separate anyone that has been exposed to the symptomatic individual.
    • Notify SLU.
    • Gather their belongings and send them home.

Can I transfer my ticket to someone else?

If you are registered as a group, we will do a one-time transfer of any of your participants, without penalty. Transfers are not available on individual registrations. This one-time transfer must occur a minimum of ten business days before the event. To make a transfer on your account, email us at [email protected] from your group leader’s email indicating the individual(s) you are canceling and the name, email, and DOB of the new registration(s). We will only make a transfer(s) on each group registration one time, and once you have made a transfer, your group is then finalized.

I have a small child, can they attend with me?

We think families are great, and time together is important.  Yet, this event is only for those who are 18 and older and who have graduated high school. We want everyone to have the best experience possible at this event, so please make arrangements to leave your children at home or arrange childcare for outside of the conference.

What meals are provided?

Through the generosity of our Event Sponsors, lunch is being provided on the second day.

Can my spouse attend?

Of course! We love when couples do ministry together. Make sure you register them so they are guaranteed a spot. Each attendee of YPS must be registered for the event and each attendee must register with their unique email address.

Can I register my whole group under one account?

This event does allow you to register as a group.   Accounts should be set up under your ministry’s primary contact and from there you can add your entire team.

How can I register for YPS?

Scroll up to the top of the page and click the “Register Now” button once registration opens on January 9, 2024.

There are two options for registration:

Individual Registration: Individual registration is for single attendees, who will need to sign up through his or her own registration account as the system will not allow duplicate email addresses.

Group Registration Option: This will allow you to register members of your team and/or family under one account and pay at one time. All members must have a unique email address. You will need to know each team member’s email address and date of birth (must be 18 at the time of registration) to register them. If a member of your group already has an SLU account with their email address but is currently not a member of your group account online, you will need email us at [email protected] so we can add them.

Do I have to register in advance for this event?

We strongly recommend that you register early for YPS as some events do fill up within hours or days.   Yet, we will keep registration open until we are full.   And if there is space available, we do allow walk-ups.   The registration fee for advanced registration is $15 and advanced registration closes the Friday before the event at 5 PM for our Spring events.   Walk-up registrations are handled onsite and the onsite registration fee is $20.  We only accept cash and exact change for Walk-up registrations.

Is the event really just $15?

Through the generosity of Lifeway Students and other sponsors, this event is being provided at just a $15 admin fee to all attendees who register in advance, $20 at the door (if the event still has space).  Lunch is provided, but you are on your own the rest of your meals as well as lodging if needed.

Please note that the $15 administrative fee has been added to ensure we can effectively manage the continuous growth of YPS. Youth Pastor Summit is still a gift from us to you; however, this administration fee will allow us to continue serving you with excellence as we manage a larger number of registrations.

Also, note that the administrative registration fee for YPS is non-refundable and is due at the time of registration to secure your spot for the event.  We are unable to refund this administrative fee if you are unable to attend this event (regardless of the reason for cancellation).

Who should attend YPS?

The Youth Pastor Summit is geared towards all Youth Pastors and Key Youth Leaders (staff or volunteers) and Christian school educators. All attendees must be 18 years or older.

YPS Orlando - Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to register in advance for YPS Orlando?

We strongly recommend that you register the day this event opens as YPS Orlando has filled up within hours or days each year. After this event fills,  we do go to a waiting list, but it is rare that we are able to move many people off of the waiting list.  Therefore, we encourage you to consider another of our YPS events as the caliber of speakers are the same at all YPS events so you will get the same great training no matter what YPS you attend.

We also offer a  walk-up registration option for this event in case there are day of cancellations. These are handled onsite and the onsite registration fee is $20.  We only accept cash and exact change for Walk-up registrations.  There is no guarantee we will be able to accomodate walk-up registrations.

Are any meals provided at YPS Orlando?

Through the generosity of our event sponsors, lunch is being provided.

What about the Universal Pass at YPS Orlando?

We are so appreciative for our continued partnership with Universal Studios and Rock the Universe. Their annual donation of Universal Tickets (which isn’t always guaranteed) is one of the many things that makes YPS Orlando so special.  Our friends at Universal Studios and Rock the Universe are providing park tickets for April 15th for the first 1250 registered attendees for YPS Orlando.   Tickets are limited to 5 per church.   Meaning you can register more than five from your church to attend YPS Orlando (the conference is awesome in an of itself), but park tickets will only be assigned to five members of your group.

Ticket confirmation emails will be sent on March 18, 2024 with instructions on where to pick them up the afternoon of April 15th.   For attendees who do not register in time for a ticket or who are part of groups larger than five, but still want to go to the park, discounted tickets can be purchased here.

How many can attend YPS Orlando from my ministry?

Because of space limitations with this event, we are only able to allow five people from one ministry to register and attend this event.   If you would like to bring more than five from your ministry, we suggest you register for one of other YPS events that do not have capacity issues.

If through the registration process we see that more than five individuals are registered from the same ministry, we will contact the ministry leader to confirm which five should remain registered.

Because this event has over 500 people on the waiting list each year we are unable to make exceptions to this policy.
