TWO YEARS OF SLU IN EGYPT
Throughout our years of ministry, SLU has stepped through strategic doors of opportunity to facilitate international leadership trainings in China, Botswana, Jordan, Jericho, Nazareth, and Nairobi. In 2023, we excitedly launched the next step in this mission - a multi-day SLU 101 and Pastors Conference in Egypt through a partnership with the tC Egypt Ministry.
In September 2023, the SLU Team served in Egypt in two powerful ministry opportunities:
- SLU 101 Egypt 750 Egyptian students began their SLU leadership journey. Our team, along with other leaders from the tC Egypt community, had the opportunity to present our SLU 101 content to students and watch as they learned how to think, dream, and lead at the feet of Jesus. Additionally through online ministry, tC Egypt had the opportunity to livestream the SLU 101 content on their Facebook page and received on average 5,000 additional views. They also gained access to the top 5 Christian television networks across Northern Africa and broadcasted each session.
- "Good to Great" Pastors Conference for 150+ Egyptian ministry leaders to equip and encourage them to continue their work in Egypt. Attendees from 5 strategic cities in Egypt: Cairo, Alexandria, El Menia, Assuit, and Delta joined us. The conference consisted of teachings from both the SLU team and tC Egypt team, as well as a Q&A session where ministry leaders were given the chance to challenge their processes and ask vital questions pertaining to ministry with Gen Z students.
The Lord opened the door to return in September 2024, to continue these efforts, hosting BOTH SLU 101 and SLU 201 as well as the 2nd year of the "Good to Great" Pastors Conference.
Our Partners: tC Egypt
Seeking an “Isaiah 19 Movement”, they work to take the gospel to non-believing young adults across Egypt by establishing ministry points in 5 strategic cities across Egypt. Through these ministry points, they work to serve and reach thousands of unchurched young adults with the gospel message using creative outreach strategies. At the same time, they equip, train, and support local church leaders and pastors in cities throughout Egypt so they can work locally, in their communities, to further spread the gospel message to non-believers beyond their pews and church walls. Their five arms of ministry are:
- Spiritual Formation: This vision is to help individuals encounter Christ, be transformed through Christ, abide in Christ and make disciples of Christ.
- Emotional and Physical Empowerment: The vision of this ministry is to reach out to the unchurched young adults, and meet them where they are, through creative gospel centered ministry initiatives that create natural spaces for building relationships of trust among Egyptian young adults that lead to genuine faith decisions and fully devoted disciples of Jesus.
- Work and Faith: The vision of this ministry is changing the Egyptian culture and framework of values through work and business.
- Leadership Development: The mission of this arm of ministry is to train, equip and send out 100 high impact leaders; 50 throughout Egypt and 50 leaders throughout the Middle East. We want to see those leaders live out their calling and start a discipleship movement all across the MENA region. We believe that there are hundreds of believers who God has called to be history makers in MENA, all they need is someone to train, equip and support them.
- Online Ministry: There are 420 Million Arabic Speakers all over the world. More than 30% of those Arabic speakers live in countries or cities with no Churches or tolerance to Christians at all. Our dream is for our online/virtual ministry to become a gateway for people who speak Arabic, from different age groups, backgrounds and locations. We want to take Christ and the message of the Gospel to Arabic speaking people wherever they are.
“In that day there will be five cities in the land of Egypt that speak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance to the Lord of hosts. One of these will be called the City of Destruction. In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the Lord at its border. It will be a sign and a witness to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt. When they cry to the Lord because of oppressors, he will send them a savior and defender, and deliver them. And the Lord will make himself known to the Egyptians, and the Egyptians will know the Lord in that day and worship with sacrifice and offering, and they will make vows to the Lord and perform them.” Isaiah 19: 18-21
