Bethany Barr Phillips

Worship Leader

bbp-480x450
With a clear vision to advance the Gospel, Bethany Barr Phillips has a heart to serve the local church through leading worship or communicating at events, conferences, and local churches. This Mississippi native uses life moments and almost 20 years of church staff and ministry experience to connect with others while remaining authentic, honest and encouraging.

She began leading worship in her student ministry at 15, and quickly learned that leading wasn’t just about the platform. From that moment on, Bethany has been intentional about building relationships and having interaction with those she feels God puts in her path.

In 2006, Bethany was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer due to a failed pregnancy. When sharing this story, she often refers to the frustration and a realization that her foundation wasn’t quite as solid as she’d thought. Through a revelation in the Word, a prayer-filled community, and the kindness of God, Bethany received her healing here on earth and has continued in ministry. She believes that her months with the disease helped her to understand that God’s goodness is not dictated by a circumstance.

Writing comes natural to Bethany as it’s always been an outlet for her to process pivotal moments in life. She has released three full-length albums, one of which contains songs she wrote through cancer, one EP, and numerous singles. The author of two devotional books (Facing Your Fears and Anchor), she truly has a heart to help others learn the Bible and how it applies to their lives.

Bethany has a passion for other women to walk in their calling, whether that be in a home or on a platform, and is on the lead team for Women in Worship – a ministry that facilitates community and conversation for women in ministry. She co-hosts a podcast called Women in Worship that can be found on all streaming platforms.

Currently, Bethany travels leading worship & communicating, as well as serving as a worship leader on staff at her home church. She lives in Tuscaloosa, AL, with her husband of 17 years, Andy, her daughter, Isaiah Jewel, and two dogs, Derby & Dice.
