Alex received a shoebox from Operation Christmas Child one year after arriving at the orphanage and remembers being so excited to have a gift to call his own. Softening the walls of bitterness and pain that the genocide instilled in Alex, the shoebox gift sowed seeds of hope and love that he desperately needed. A year later Alex was selected to join the African Children’s Choir where those seeds were nurtured and he developed a deep hunger to know the Lord. He committed his life to Jesus Christ and realized that the only reason he survived the genocide was because God had a very specific plan for him.
